What is Capacity Development?  “Building your Tool Belt”

Capacity Develop is a trendy way of saying, -

building on your skill sets to successfully complete a task/job.

Think of capacity development as a large tool belt, each pocket holds a different skill, competency or body of knowledge that you reach for when trying to complete a task or a job. As a person learns new skills, knowledge and or competencies through training, workshops, and or courses the pockets start to fill up and expand to allow the new skills.

No tool belt will ever be full but ever-expanding.    This is developing your capacity.

Northern Strategies Trust - Capacity Development

In 2007 AYC submitted a proposal for funding to the Northern Strategy Trust to develop capacity building strategies for First Nation and Municipal Governments and Local Advisory Councils to ensure they have the necessary skills and technical competencies to provide services to their citizens.  As a part of the funding request, AYC received supplementary funding for the Community Training Trust Society to continue funding individual government training applications.

Project Description: “Building your Tool Belt”

Over the next two (2) years AYC will be conducting workshops and training sessions that will expand and increase municipal and first nation governments and local advisory councils skill sets, knowledge and competencies. In essence AYC will strive to build upon the local Yukon government’s “Tool Belts” to help them govern and provide services to their citizens.
